The 50th worldwide office of "USERN" has been established in the Functional Neurosurgery Research Center of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences since December 2020 under the chairmanship of Dr. Alireza Zali. Dr. Saeid Safari and Dr. Meisam Akhlaghdoust are the scientific director and executive director of the USERN office for Functional Neurosurgery Research Center, respectively.

USERN stands for Universal Scientific Education and Research Network. Professor Nima Rezaei, distinguished professor of Immunology, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, established this network in 2015. USERN has been created with the aim of expanding ethical and humanitarian education and scientific research and ultimately advancing science for civilian purposes and public interests in the world and in all 22 disciplines. Implementation of international, interdisciplinary scientific projects and creating a platform for better communication between young researchers and experienced scientists around the world is one of the programs ahead of this network.

USERN's motto is “science without borders”. The network of scientific advisors to the network consists of the top 1% of scientists in all disciplines introduced by ESI and the winners of the Nobel and Abel Prizes and the USERN Prize.

So far, more than 370 of the world's top 1 percent of scientists and 15 Nobel and Abel winners are members of the network's advisory group. The 50th office of USERN in the Functional Neurosurgery Research Center of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences was put into operation in September 2016 with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Dr. Alireza Zali and Dr. Nima Rezaei. More than 100 domestic and international universities are connected by USERN.
